Carbon dioxide is a gas we breathe out, but it is also released when we burn things. Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are rising and this is causing the planet to warm up. It is heating only a little bit but this is causing climates to change. Some areas will get too much rain and have floods and some areas could get too little rain and become deserts. We can all do something to help. A lot of this carbon dioxide comes from using oil and gas for transport and electricity. If we all decide to use less energy we will help. Trees take in carbon dioxide gas from the air and give out oxygen. Trees use the carbon to grow. So by planting trees we get something nice to look at, a home for animals and birds and also help to take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
